Our Focus on Social Issues
Children actually pick up toys in their own hands to play with them, so safety must be of utmost priority. Furthermore, with more and more people supporting the SDGs, global society expects companies to minimize the adverse impact that harmful chemicals might have on the human body and ecosystems and to strengthen the management of such chemicals in their production processes.
In addition, the manufacture and sale of counterfeit products and the unauthorized use of copyrighted works run the risk of damaging our brand value and causing injury or other problems to customers due to poor construction. In order to establish firm brand value and ensure consistent growth, it is important to manage and utilize intellectual property (IP), including measures to control counterfeiting
Customer values are diversifying. Nowadays, children around the world are being educated about SDGs. Indeed, SDGs have been included in Japan’s compulsory Courses of Study from fiscal 2020. Going forward, people’s expectations will likely increase with regard to ethical consumption, universal design, and gender-neutral products and services. We are also seeing a growing tendency in Europe and other international locations to focus more strongly on children’s human rights considerations in advertising and promotion activities.

How to Achieve
Our Sustainability Vision
Our founder, Eiichiro Tomiyama, expressed his philosophy of toys as “aiming to create a more abundant children’s culture by making ingenious, high-quality toys loved by everyone to promote the healthy growth of children, who are responsible for the future.” This philosophy has been passed down through the ages and will continue to endure for many generations to come. In addition to upholding our commitment to maintain the high standard of our safety and quality initiatives, we will ensure the appropriate management in manufacturing plants and elsewhere of harmful chemical substances that could adversely impact the human body, ecosystems, or the global environment.
We commit to protect the rights of children and to create products and services that satisfy the needs and circumstances of diverse customers around the world. We will also strive to help solve social issues through TOMY Group business and provide new value through play.
