Building an Environment Facilitating a Passion for Work That Creates Asobi

We support the capacity development of employees by conducting various training programs that allow each employee to think about their own career and aim to improve their skills and abilities, thereby opening up new possibilities.

A grading system that allows employees to chart their own career path out of many possible options

We have overhauled the previously mainstream approach to career progression that was focused on aiming for managerial positions. We have established a new job-based grading system unique to TOMY, where employees can hone their expertise in their respective job categories and advance their career to specialist positions, or amass experience in a variety of different job categories and work their way up to managerial positions.

Clarifying required skills and evaluation criteria by job category and grade

Instead of evaluating employees based on a set of common criteria, we have introduced an evaluation framework based on how well an employee demonstrates the skills required for a particular job category. Positions are classified into the following job categories: development, production engineering, quality control, marketing, sales, logistics, and corporate. We provide an environment in which employees can understand their own situation with greater clarity and grow through interviews with their superiors.

Comprehensive education system

We support the capacity development of employees by conducting various training programs that allow each employee to think about their own career and aim to improve their skills and abilities, thereby opening up new possibilities. We have also introduced training programs such as overseas training, where employees stay at our overseas locations to understand different cultures and identify issues faced in Japan from local perspectives.

TOMY Group Family Day

This event is an opportunity for the families of employees to better understand their work and workplace, as well as to interact with their superiors and colleagues. In 2024, the year of our 100th anniversary, we prepared a program that allowed participants to experience the TOMY Group’s many different forms of Asobi as part of our “100th Anniversary Grand Appreciation Festival!!”

Acquisition of Kurumin certification and 3-star Eruboshi certification

TOMY Company received the Kurumin certification from Japan’s Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare as a company that supports child-raising, as well as the highest 3-star Eruboshi certification as a leading company in promoting the advancement of women.

Establishment of new childbirth and childcare gift fund

Since July 2024, we have introduced a system to provide gift money for childbirth and childcare of 2 million yen per child. We aim to create an environment in which male employees can easily take extended parental leave by making it a condition of payment that they take parental leave for 28 days or more.

Initiatives aimed at creating a comfortable workplace

We have introduced a work-from-home system and a super-flex hours system so that employees can choose their own diverse and flexible work styles to suit their respective lifestyles.
